When we get a call for Ontario, the first thing we ask is what part of town. Ontario stretches from the historic Chaffey-era grid on the north side all the way down to the New Model Colony south of the 60, and it wraps around one of the busiest airports and logistics corridors in the country. The plumbing you're going to find in a 1912 Craftsman on Sultana Avenue has nothing in common with the PEX manifold in a 2018 tract home off Merrill, and neither one has anything in common with the grease line at a warehouse commissary off Vineyard. We work all three.
North Ontario, the historic side, is where we spend most of our repipe hours. The neighborhoods around Euclid Avenue, Chaffey College's original footprint, and the old orange grove blocks off Fourth Street were built with galvanized steel supply lines. A hundred years of hard Ontario Municipal Utilities water has choked those pipes down to about a quarter of their original diameter from the inside out. If your kitchen faucet trickles when the shower is running, that's usually why. Repiping with PEX or copper solves it for good, and we plan the wall access carefully because a lot of these houses have plaster walls and original wood trim that we'd rather keep.
South of the 60, in the New Model Colony, the calls are different. These homes are 10 to 20 years old, mostly on PEX manifolds, with tankless heaters that were installed with the tracts. The number one issue we see is scale buildup on the tankless units. Ontario water is hard, and a tankless that never gets flushed will start throwing error codes and going cold mid-shower around year seven or eight. A proper descaling and a flow sensor swap gets most of them back to like-new for years.
The commercial side is its own animal. We do backflow testing and certification for the City of Ontario, grease trap service for downtown restaurants, and drain jetting for warehouses around the airport and Milliken corridor. We schedule around your operating hours so nobody's dinner service or shift gets interrupted.
